Update: Not Good At All

Here it goes. The moment of truth. I got sick about 2 weeks before the 5K, so some time near the end of last month. I finished the C25K program, but I have not run a full 5K since then. It was hard. I was blowing my nose a lot and coughing up phlegm. It was gross. Since then I have maybe worked out twice a week and have not been eating very well...like at all. I have been too afraid to step on the scale, but I did it anyways this morning. 203.4. Ugh. I never did a post for it, but on 5/25, I was 194.8. See. I was happy.

I'm going the wrong way. I'm going to try to be better. I only have a month before my next IVF cycle. I wanted to lose as much weight as possible so that it is less that I will weigh post baby. This is disappointing. I may pick up some water pills and hope that some of this weight drops off within the next week. My first week of counting calories and exercising, I used water pills and lost 8 pounds. Hopefully I can do it again.

I did not sleep well last night, so I'm going to go take a nap and hope to wake up refreshed and do some Zumba and/or get on the treadmill. I got the carpet dancers for doing Zumba in my living room. I've been doing it in my socks...no shoes...which I know is not good for my feet/ankles/knees. I look forward to using these and hope that they make dancing on the carpet easier.....like they are supposed to.

5K Foam Fest 2014

June 7th was the 5K Foam Fest. It is a foam and mud run and it was SO much fun! Let me just say that it is impossible to run the whole thing, so it is more of a "fun run." A normal 5K run should take about 35-40 minutes for me. A lot of this 5K, we had to take it slow because there were many sections of the trail that we very wet and slippery. We also had to wait to do obstacles. Sometimes we went right thru them, sometimes we waited a minute, and once we waited at least 10 minutes. Because of this and waiting for teammates, it took us 1 hour and 18 minutes to complete the course. We definitely tried to run as much as possible though.
Here are some pictures from the day of the run:
Just arriving and squeaky clean!
Crawling through the dirt!
Slipping in the muddy foam!
Running through the Mike's Hard Lemonade Obstacle!
The slide wasn't wet enough!
I didn't make it all of the way down!
FINISHED! The hubby and I are FAR from clean!
This is our team: (L to R) Mike, Me, Steve (FIL),
Terri (FIL's gf), Jeanette (SIL), and Sean (SIL's bf)
Showing off my number and muddiness!
We really had a blast! I highly recommend this fun run! I really want to sign up for next year because it is half off right now, but I'm not sure if I will have a newborn next year or if I'll be pregnant, so I have to wait. I'm going to be angry if we are still going through treatments. :P

Week 6 Recap

Pounds Lost This Week: None - I am up 1 lb (15.6 lbs TOTAL lost)

Exercise: I finished week 6 of C25K! On Friday I ran for 22 minutes straight! Only 2 more weeks before I AM able to run a 5K!

I am a little disappointed in myself because I took 3 days off of exercising this past week.

Sunday: Rest Day
Monday: C25K Week 6 Day 1 (18 min run /16 min walk) & Elliptical (40 min)
Tuesday: Walk (25 min) & Run (20 min)
Wednesday: C25K Week 6 Day 2 (20 min run/13 min walk)
Thursday: Rest Day
Friday: C25K Week 6 Day 3 (22 min run/10 min walk)
Saturday: Skipped workout to do yard work

Eating: This week was not such a good week. After weighing in on Sunday at 196.8, we went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. I had a Twisted Margarita and a grilled chicken wrap with french fries. Later that day I had a bottle of wine. I weighed myself on Monday morning and was at 199. Boo. I also had several days that I went a little over my calorie goals. I was a bit of a slacker this week.

Weak Moments/Cravings: Wine! :/

Next Week's Goals: My goal is to loose between 2-3 pounds this week. I also REALLY need to add in strength training this week!

 Have a great week, everyone!

Transformation Tuesday

I've been seeing these transformation Tuesday hashtags on Instagram since I started following others going through a weight loss journey of their own. Today I got enough courage to post one myself. I know I am barely into my weight loss journey, and I'm still VERY embarrassed about my body, but I was proud to share how much I have changed it in the last 5 weeks! I still have a lot of work to do, but I'm doing it!!!

Week 5 Recap

Pounds Lost This Week: 3 lbs (16.6 lbs TOTAL)

Exercise: I finished week 5 of C25K! On Friday I was actually able to run the 20 minutes straight! It was such a great feeling to be able to do that. I am still in shock that I have lasted this long.

Sunday was my rest day. I exercised every day besides Sunday. I'm still slacking on crunches and the Bowflex workouts. I did them once last week. I really need to do both, but especially the Bowflex since I am a bit worried about the obstacles in the 5K Foam Fest. I need more arm strength for some of those obstacles.

This last week I:
Walked - 194 minutes
Ran - 57 minutes
Elliptical - 30 minutes

Eating: Sunday was Easter, so of course I had a very filling dinner & dessert. On top of that, my parents had M&M's on their end tables. Oh...there was also wine. ;) On Monday I had Easter dinner again because my mom sent leftovers home with us. My parents also gave us a ton of chocolate. I brought it home and thought that maybe I could control myself. I found out on Monday that I was wrong, so I gave my friend at work the rest of my chocolate for when she had cravings. I had some on Tuesday after I gave them to her. On Wednesday I told her that she can't let me have any more. I was good the rest of the week and stayed under my calorie goal of no more than 1300 calories a day. I have no idea how I lost 3 pounds this week.

Weak Moments/Craving: Wine and chocolate on and a couple days after Easter.

Next Week's Goals: My goal is to loose between 2-3 pounds this week. I also plan on doing more strength training this week!

Start & 5 Weeks Later

Have a great week, ladies! I know that I will! :)

5K Foam Fest 2014

Let me start out by saying that I am sad to say that I have to sell my ticket to The Color Run for June 8th. I signed up on a Monday and when my friend, Tinese, went to sign up on that Friday (payday), they were sold out. I will not run it alone, so, I searched the event page on Facebook where TONS of people are begging for a ticket. I passed up people offering to buy the ticket for double price and decided to sell it to a 16 year old boy whose girlfriend will have to run this 5K alone for the 2nd year in a row because he is a procrastinator. It pulled at my heart strings. I felt bad and chose him. I have been in contact with his father and we are working on getting me paid and transferring the registration to his son's name.

Tinese and I are looking for another 5K to do together. There is a run similar to The Color Run, called Run or Dye. We may do that one, but I'm not sure yet.

In other news, I found a super fun 5K that I figured my husband would be interested...and he WAS. We put together a team and signed up last weekend. The 5K is a fun run called the 5K Foam Fest. There are 16 obstacles. We will be extremely soapy and muddy. It's going to be disgusting, but AWESOME!

 Check out the video:

We are running it with my father-in-law and his girlfriend and my sister-in-law and her boyfriend. My SIL came up with the team name, Ties That Bind. It stands for different ties that people have to each other. Like family ties or friendship ties. We are going to have matching shirts and wear a necktie, bow tie, or really anything that ties. I was thinking of a wearing a thin scarf. I really can't wait until June 7th!!!

Tip Tuesday

We are all guilty of this. I've been tutoring on the 2nd floor of the local library and the kids always want to take the elevator. From now on, they can take the elevator. I am taking the stairs. Practice what you preach, right?

Week 4 Recap

Pounds Lost This Week: 1.6 lbs (13.6 lbs TOTAL)

Exercise: I finished week 4 of C25K! I am halfway to being able to run a 5K! That is if I last that long. I worked out 5 days last week. Sunday was my rest day and I decided to sleep in on Thursday and just had an extra long workout on Friday to make up for it. I only did crunches and the Bowflex workouts once last week.

This last week I:
Walked - 156.5 minutes
Ran - 70.5 minutes

Eating: I tried my best to stay under my calorie goals, but I was a little weak this week. I had a couple cheat days. We celebrated Easter last Sunday with my hubby's family. That caused me to go back up 3 pounds. It took me until Thursday to drop that weight off. Then I had a couple drinking nights.

Weak Moments/Craving: Wine. I craved that a lot this week. :/

Next Week's Goals: My goal is to loose between 2-3 pounds this week. I also plan on doing more strength training this week!

Start & 4 Weeks Later

Hoppy EASTER!!! Have a fabulous week!

Tip Tuesday

I actually had to do this one morning during my 21 days straight of exercising.
It helped me to make the right decision!

Motivational Monday

I wish that I had started this journey sooner.
I could be at my goal by now!
At least I started, right?

Week 3 Recap

Pounds Lost This Week: 3.4 lbs (12 lbs TOTAL)

Exercise: I exercised every single day this week (AGAIN)! I made my 21 days straight of working out! Now that I formed a habit, I am going to add one rest day a week. I am starting week 4 of the C25K program this week. It doesn't seem to be too bad at all from what I read. It's next week that I am worried about! :/

This week I:
Walked - 331 minutes
Ran - 62 minutes

Eating: I stayed between under 1500 calories five out of the seven days this week.

Weak Moments/Craving: We went to Steak 'n Shake on Thursday night for my hubby's goddaughter's birthday. I was good and had a grilled chicken sandwich, but it came with fries. I did eat some, but I also gave my hubby some. I was craving a shake SO badly, so when I got home I had to have a couple 100 calorie packs of something chocolatey to feed my craving. Then I had some wine on Friday night. By some I mean  two bottles. Oops. On the bright side I dropped 2 pounds overnight that night! :)

Next Week's Goals: My goal is to loose between 2-3 pounds this week. I also plan on starting strength training this week!

Start & 3 Weeks Later

Tip Tuesday

I have seen so many great tips on Pinterest and thought that I'd do a "Tip Tuesday" blog post each week! I found THE PERFECT one to start off with. Simple. Put the mouse down and step away from the computer!

Motivational Monday

This is something that I need to keep in mind.

My First 5K

I did it. I signed up for my first 5K. I am both nervous and excited. I have wanted to do one for a long time, but obviously, I am not a runner. I tried C25K before and failed during week 3. I am currently on week 3 and feeling really good. I WILL push my body to do what I want it to do. I will run/jog that 5K and give it my all.

The race is on June 8th and I will be running with my friend, Tinese. According to the picture below, my Color Runner name is Sassy Sugar Socks and Tinese's is Glamorus Floating Bubbles. :)

If you've never heard of The Color Run, here is how the event works:

Less about your 10-minute-mile and more about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed race in which thousands of participants, or “Color Runners”, are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. With only two rules, the idea is easy to follow:

1. Wear white at the starting line.

2. Finish plastered in color!
The fun continues after Color Runners complete the race with an unforgettable Finish Festival. This larger than life party is equipped with music, dancing and massive color throws, which create millions of vivid color combinations. Trust us, this is the best post-5k party on the planet!

Tinese and I are super excited about this 5K. 62 days!!! Woot! Woot!

Weekly 2 Recap

Pounds Lost This Week: 2.0 lbs (8.6 lbs TOTAL)

Exercise: I exercised every single day this week (AGAIN)! That makes 2 weeks in a row! I haven't added in strength training yet. I'm not really sure when I'll do that! Right now I am focusing on training my body to be a runner. I just started week 3 of the C25K program today. This is the point that I quit last time I tried, so I am determined to make it this time! I love the way that running has transformed my body so far and I hope it continues to do so!

This week I:
Walked - 298 minutes
Ran - 39 minutes

Eating: I stayed between 1100-1500 every day this week (AGAIN)! :)

Weak Moments: I haven't had any week moments this week! I stayed STRONG!

Cravings: NONE! :)

Next Week's Goals: My goal last week was to lose 3 pounds, but I only lost 2 lbs week. I know that I am losing weight the healthy way, so I think my goal this week will be 2 lbs. I also still need to find the time for strength training. Time to cruise Pinterest for some ideas! :)

Start & 2 Weeks Later - Definitely starting to see a difference...especially in my face!
I hope everyone's having a great weekend and I hope you all have a fabulous week!!!

Week 1 Recap

Pounds Lost This Week: 6.6 lbs

Exercise: I am super proud of myself! I exercised every single day this week! I only did the crunches and Bowflex 2 days, but I did cardio every day. Here are the totals:

Walked - 206 minutes
Ran - 64 minutes

Eating: Initially I didn't want to go over 1200 calories per day. Then, MyFitnessPal was yelling at me and telling me that I wasn't eating enough calories and that my body was going to go into starvation mode. Yadda yadda yadda. So, I stayed between 1100-1500 every day this week.

Weak Moments: We hung out with family last night and I limited snacking and had a small portion of spaghetti for dinner w/ a small piece of bread. Dessert was French Apple pie (1 piece was 430 calories), so I brought a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich (150 calories) for myself. :)

Cravings: I didn't have any craving this week! :)

Next Week's Goals: I know that most of the weight lost this past week was more than likely water weight, so my goal is to lose 3 pounds this coming week. I also really need to find the time for strength training.

I know that there isn't much of a noticeable difference yet, but I'm going to end these posts with a side by side picture of the start and the current week.

Happy FRIDAY

I am loving today! We had parent teacher conferences at the school that I work at last night and this morning, so come 10:45am this morning, I started my weekend!

At 1:40, the mail lady dropped off two packages for me. I knew what they were and was super stoked! I slept in this morning and planned on working out after work HOPING that these items would come and they did!  This is what I got:

BBolder.com - $15
Bolder Band - I have used the regular elastic bands before, but they always either felt like they were going to slip out of place or they did. I ran across these bands online and ordered one. I used it today when I walked/ran for 60 minutes on the treadmill. It NEVER slipped. It stayed in place and was super comfortable. It even soaked up the sweat by my hairline. I didn't have to wipe my face on and off for the entire workout. It was drenched when I took it off, but luckily I can just throw it in the washer! I bought this on BBolder.com and just ordered 3 more tonight since I loved it so much! Here is a coupon code that I saw on Facebook: 10FB10 for 10% off in case you are interested in purchasing one for yourself!

Rakuten - $63
Polar FT4 HRM - Someone suggested that I get a heart rate monitor to give me more accurate information for my workouts. I also like it because I will have correct information when we take the dogs for a walk. I'm going to connect it to Endomondo.com this weekend. I used it during my hour workout today and it showed that I burned 39 more calories than the treadmill showed. I found this one cheapest on Rakuten.com for $63.

I will check in on Sunday and update on how the week went for me! Have a great Saturday, everyone!
